The Face Dogs are getting closer to the base. Even though it's right in front of the Palehorse Battalion, it's not attacking. It's only showing a myriad of faces. Sorawo deduces that it's like the last time she encountered a Face Dog. The more you looked at it, the closer the Face Dogs bring you to madness. Suddenly Sorawo eye starts to hurt, but thanks to it, she realizes that the black spots on the Face Dogs form a pattern. The Simulacra Phenomenon.
The human brain is programmed to recognize human faces. When people see three dots in a specific pattern, the brain registers them as a face. So, the faces aren't actually faces. There's nothing to be afraid of them. A creature that uses black spots to invoke terror in humans is cows.
Sorawo spots the cow's head. But only she can see it. The marines are all misled by the faces. Sorawo asks Toriko to shoot the creature above the mass of faces. It looks like Toriko missed the first shot, but in actuality, the bullet just went through the creature. It seems that perception can influence whether the creature can be hit or not. Consequently, Sorawo asks to give her the gun. She'll take the shot.
But before Toriko can hand over the gun, Sergeant Major Greg screams at them to get down from the vehicle. But there's no time to waste. Sorawo ignores them. With Toriko's support, she aims and shoots at the cow's head.
