Elevator in a 10-story building in Jinbouchou, Tokyo
Gates are doors connecting the surface world and the other world and also serves as an entrance to the Otherside. These gates can be accessed by finding a hidden entrance in a certain location or go through certain procedures. On some occasions, gates can also be forced open by people who had encounters with the Fourth Kind.
An interstitial space also exists between the surface world and Otherside. A transitory zone that those who enter through the gates will always pass through. This zone is notable by either a subtle or sudden change in the environment, bizarre sounds, and a gradual shift in the atmosphere. Each gate has a different transfer time between the two worlds.
